We are thrilled to announce our partnership with The Firefighter Foundation.
The Firefighter Foundation was launched in 2001 as a response to the 343 firefighters who lost their lives when responding to the September 11th terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. The response was a global community of firefighters who raised money for the loved ones of the firefighters who had lost their lives.
Since its inception, The Firefighter Foundation has worked tirelessly to raise money and awareness for charities such as MIND, Victims of Domestic Violence, and St Johns Ambulance.
The ultimate aim of The Firefighter Foundation is to place a defibrillator with free training for staff and teachers in every academic institution. Defibrillators are essential for public health; when experiencing cardiac arrest, every minute without a defibrillator decreases the chances of survival by 10%. Their latest campaign, ‘Sweet Hearts’ aims to protect every child and young person in the event of cardiac arrest. In the foundation’s own words;
“The Sweetheart Campaign is created to help schools and leaders of groups own and understand the importance of having a defibrillator. 270 children die every year from cardiac arrest and 12 young people die every week. That is nearly one child every day and two young people. A Defibrillator could save these lives. We work in Partnership with Foundation For Jimmy to make every child in the country Defibrillator Protected.”
As well as working with the public, The Firefighter Foundation is lobbying and campaigning the government to ensure that defibrillators become a mandatory safety tool in our schools and academic buildings.
